Leadership is a concept that most everyone generally recognizes and understands – most people can immediately recognize “good” or “bad” leadership when they see it. However, fewer people can clearly articulate what makes one person a great leader and another a poor one. The concept of leadership has evolved over time and various theories and approaches have been continually proposed and studied to answer the question, “What is the best way to lead?”
After examining what exactly leadership is and its related goals, this course will focus on four of the most current and popular approaches to leadership – transformational, authentic, servant, and adaptive leadership. Models for each will be discussed and applied to the context of each participants’ own leadership roles. Target participants will have some leadership responsibility over others but may come from any organizational level.
