Module Description
This class uses the authorized curriculum from Avid Technologies for User-level certification in the Pro Tools software program. Students will learn the steps for using Pro Tools v.12.8 software and be prepared to take the Avid certification exams. Successfully completing the exams will earn industry-recognized certification credentials from Avid.
Students will need a current copy of Pro Tools and a license iLok key. Short-term subscriptions are available at www.avid.com.
Instructor Information
Fred Johnson teaches courses in Music Production & Recording Arts in the Music department at Elon. He holds a BS in Music, with an emphasis in Audio Engineering, and an MS in Recording Arts from the University of Colorado-Denver. His interests lie in the areas of miking of acoustic instruments and Immersive Audio. He is an Avid Certified Instructor in both Pro Tools (Operator-Level) and Sibelius (User-Level).
Learning Competencies
At the conclusion of this course, students will:
- Be able to use Pro Tools v.12.8 to record, edit and process audio.
- Know the layout of the software and be able to understand menu trees and command structure.
- Be prepared to take the certification exams for PT101 and PT110, which lead to Avid granting industry certification at the “User Level”.
