Course Description
The Elon NEXT AI Certificate for Professionals provides working adults with practical, real-world skills in artificial intelligence through a comprehensive 16-hour, three-module program. Designed for flexibility and immediate workplace application, the program guides participants from AI fundamentals and ethics through prompt engineering to advanced automation and personalized solution development. Elon's relationship-centered approach distinguishes this program, participants connect directly with leading experts, gaining practical insights through hands-on experiences that go beyond traditional coursework.
Course Modules
MODULE 1: AI INTRODUCTIONS AND AI ETHICS
Duration: 3 hours
This foundational module introduces participants to artificial intelligence fundamentals and ethical considerations. Participants will build real-world skills in understanding AI, generative AI, and the ethical frameworks necessary for responsible AI implementation. Through hands-on activities and practical assignments, learners will explore both the transformative potential and the ethical implications of AI in professional settings.
MODULE 2: AI PROMPT ENGINEERING
Duration: 5 hours
This module focuses on developing advanced prompt engineering skills for professional applications. Participants will master the art and science of crafting effective prompts for various AI models, learning techniques that transfer across platforms and industries. Through intensive practice and real-world applications, learners will create comprehensive prompt libraries and develop strategies for optimizing AI interactions in their workplace.
MODULE 3: AI ADVANCES AND AI AUTOMATION WITH CAPSTONE
Duration: 8 hours
This advanced module combines cutting-edge AI automation techniques with a comprehensive Capstone project. Participants will explore advanced automation strategies, learn to build AI-enhanced workflows, and develop a job-relevant AI solution for their organization. The module culminates in a Capstone presentation where participants demonstrate their AI solutions such as a chatbot, automation, or AI-enhanced process, showcasing both technical knowledge and the ability to solve meaningful professional challenges.

Certificate Completion Celebration (directly following final class):

Certificate Completion Requirements
Participants who successfully complete all three modules receive: Elon University AI Certificate for Professionals. To earn the certificate, participants must attend at least 70% of each module and complete all assigned work. Participants who miss more than 30% of any module or fail to submit required assignments will not be eligible for certification. Meeting all program requirements, including attendance and assignment completion, is the sole responsibility of the participant. Elon Next policies and standards apply to all learners.
